established in 2020
Spooner’s Bay Lodge, owned and operated by Captain Skipper Gentry, opened in March 2020, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Captain Skipper Gentry was born and raised on the waters of Morehead City, North Carolina. Born into a fishing family it was destined to be his career, with his father being a tournament fisherman as well as President of The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, he has been around the big game scene from day one. From the age of 2, Skipper could be found riding along with his dad from the Hemingway Billfish Tournament in Bimini to the Hatteras Marlin Club. As Skipper grew up it was only natural to fish and surf, so that’s what he did. These sports gave him the opportunity to travel the world from both sides of the Pacific, the Atlantic, and through the Caribbean.
Captain Skipper Gentry has been fishing the waters of the Bahamas full-time since 2011. He has dedicated his life to fishing and contributing to the Bahamas. When Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas in September of 2019, Skipper and his crew spent months on relief efforts to help the people of the islands recover from complete devastation.
Owning and operating a fishing lodge has been a life-long goal, and we cannot wait to host your next vacation in the Bahamas.
